Behind The Brand: Totally Stoned
Q&A with Alex McReynolds, Designer & Founder of Totally Stoned Jewelry

Q: Do you remember your first connection to jewelry?
Alex: Absolutely. I was really young, maybe six or seven, and I remember playing with my mom’s silver cuff at church every Sunday. That cool, heavy metal became this calming presence. Looking back, I think that was my first realization that jewelry could be grounding.
-
Q: When did that interest become something more?
Alex: I started making jewelry in elementary school, my first piece was a Mother’s Day bracelet with little silver and stone beads. From there, it escalated. I had a full-blown business selling rubber band jewelry to classmates until the school shut me down for creating too much of a frenzy. I’ve always loved creating for other, it’s personal, powerful, and sometimes even transformative.
-
Q: So what inspired the launch of Totally Stoned?
Alex: It came from a need to create something lasting. I’ve always collected fine jewelry, gold, diamonds, gemstones, etc, but I didn’t just want to wear it. I wanted to understand the process, to design at a level that blended art and engineering. Totally Stoned was born from that obsession. These aren’t trend pieces, they’re made to be worn and lived in, then passed down.
-
Q: What influences your designs?
Alex: So much. I find inspiration in architecture, the geometry of industrial forms, the intense colors palettes of nature, new ideas in unexpected places. I have a background in 3D design and sculpture, so I approach every piece like a small work of art, balancing structure, form, and meaning. The result is what I’d call urban elegance: bold, clean, and timeless.
-
Q: Who do you design for?
Alex: I design for people who want their jewelry to say something. People who use it to tell stories, whether it’s an engagement, a personal milestone, or just a reminder of who they are. My clients understand that the best jewelry isn’t about trends, it’s about identity and memory. They don’t just buy jewelry, they collect it.
-
Q: What sets Totally Stoned apart?
Alex: Craftsmanship and intention. Every piece is made to order in small batches using solid gold, sterling silver, and personally selected lab or natural gems. I don’t cut corners. If something’s going to be worn every day, it should be made that way.
-
Q: What’s your ultimate vision for Totally Stoned?
Alex: I want people to look forward to new collection. I want to be part of their celebrations, their stories. Whether it’s a gift, a treat to themselves, or a redesign of something they love, I want my jewelry to be well loved and worn. The best jewelry doesn’t just shine. It sticks with you.
